SSRS 2005 is not rendering properly in PDF
We have an SSRS report generated in SQL server 2005. The reporting is rendering properly when viewing with IE. But when we export the same report to PDF we are getting page breaks in between a particular data Row. Our report is a simple one where we are not using any inner table or sub reports with in the report. We tried different solutions like adjust the margins, adjust the height and width etc. It will be very helpful if any one can suggest a solution for this. Reagrds Rubin

Check your Body Size & Page Size. And also check that the size should not go beyond your page layout size of the printing page. I also had the same problem, these thing helped me to resolve the issue.Regards, Shashank Verma

Hi Rubystone, From your description, do you mean that you get the different page number between in PDF and render the report in Report Manager? If so, it might be caused that different pagination rules are used. Reporting Services is designed to use two different rules in pagination. One is Physical pagination, the other is Logical pagination. The Physical pagination is controlled by the “PageSize” property, and it is used to the print control, TIFF and PDF rendering extensions. The Logical pagination is controlled by the “InteractiveSize” property, and it is used to the HTML and GDI rendering extensions. In order to make the page numbers matches, please refer to the equalities to set the “PageSize” and “InteractiveSize” values below: • Width(InteractiveSize) + Margin(Left) + Margin(Right) = Width(PageSize) • Height(InteractiveSize) + Margin(Top) + Margin(Bottom) = Height(PageSize) For more information about Logical and Physical Pagination Rules, please see: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/bwelcker/archive/2005/08/19/454043.aspx If I have something misunderstood, please point out. Hi Bin, Thanks for your reply, we did the changes suggested but we are not able to get get rid of the issue. We are getting only 5 pages when rendering in IE but in PDF its getting to 8 pages. Please let me know if we need to check any other settings also. Thanks Rubin

Hi Rubin, From my testing, if the data string is too long and the cell has not enough space to display it, by default the cell will automatically increase the height. It will lead to the height of the Logical pagination increased, but the height of the Logical pagination is fixed. So, please make sure the initial size of data cell have enough space to display data string. Otherwise, if the width of the report contents is greater than the width of PDF file, it will be divided two pages to display the report contents when export the report to PDF format. In order to avoid this, you can try to reduce the width of columns in the table or matrix. Hope this helps. Regards, Bin Long

Hi Bin, In our case we dont have a specific size for data or we dont have a max limit to the data size in a row or column. The data size varies record by record so i dont think adjusting the cell width will help us to resolve this issue. Please let me know if i misunderstood your explanation. Regards Rubin
