We're running SQL Server/SSRS 2005 SP2 (build 9.00.3152.00). While performing clean up on report subscriptions, I realized that we had inconsistent failures. A subset of subscriptions appear to failure every other time, with the trace logs noting "The permissions granted to user '[name removed]' are insufficient for performing this operation." This happens with subscriptions owned/run by several different accounts. This is particularly confusing because these same reports work just fine with the existing accounts on alternating runs. Some of these subscriptions run daily, some run weekly, and have been in place for months or years. At a given time (say, 5pm on Friday), some subscriptions will work, others will fail. The only consistent factor I can determine is that failure/success is predicted by the previous run of that specific subscription. To further test this, I created a subscription to run every five minutes, and as expected, it failed every other time. The further confusion is that this does not affect all subscriptions, just some of them. Running these reports ad hoc (via the Report Manger or in BIDS) always succeeds. Extensive searching of the web has turned up one or two other cases of the same issue, but without a solution noted. Any ideas?
