SSRS 2005 Report Printing Additional Blank Page
Hi, New to SSRS 2005 and having some problems printing. I have a report that has only 7 columns and while in layout mode, the body of the report only has a width of not even 7 inches. I have made my left margin 0.2 in, RM at 0 in, TM at 0 in and BM at 0 in as well and yet when I print, I get an additional blank page. All my records print in the first page just fine but I get the additional blank page. This also happens to me on a different report when I change the settings for landscape printing. I am able to fit all the columns in one page using landscape but get an additional blank page for every page that is printed. So instead of printing just two pages of records, I get 2 additional blank pages. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Only thing i can suggest you is, set properties of Page size to (default paper size) and size to (default paper size). To open page size properties click outside the body of report and view properties and to open page size properties click inside report body. Let me know if this was helpful Thanks BB

One thing to keep in mind while designing the report if you gonna print it is to set your page size as per A4 settings. The report page should be around 11in height and 8.5in width including margins. Put all your controls(table/matrix) inside a rectangle control having same size as your page or just less than that. Make sure data or all 7 columns fit in 8 in leaving 0.5 in for margins. The reason behind getting blank page is the height or width of you page exceeding the default page size of A4. In your case, increase the width of the page to 8 in and if that too wont work then try the above. Hope this helps!Dinesh Behera If this post answers your question, please mark it as an Answer.

Sorry but I can't seem to find the page size. I'm in Layout mode in SSRS and clicked outside the body of my report but when I click on the Report Menu and click on Report Properties, I can't find page size. Are you talking about Report Manager or Report Viewer or Visual Studio? Thanks

All 7 columns combined measure 7 inches and when I widened a column so it reached just short of 8 in. Even with the same margins I set, I still get an additional blank page. Thanks for your help.

Open your report in visual studio in design view and just click somewhere in the body of the report outside the table (or just pick Body from the properties window), and in the properties window you'll find tab size where you can specify the width and the height. So make sure you have the proper width (as suggested before).

In the layout mode(design page in VS) just right click on the page outside any control and go to properties. It shows the page size(height and width). Please set the height and width based on my earlier post. Dinesh Behera If this post answers your question, please mark it as an Answer.

Found the page size, however, when I try to set the width to 8, it defaults back to 9 in for portrait mode even though in Report properies, I've already set it to 8 inches. Same thing happens for the other report in landscape. Report properties are already set to page width of 11 in but when I rightclick on the body and try to set the properties to 11, it defaults back to 14 inches. So I still get blank pages. Thanks again for your help

Seems like one of your controls width is around 9 in. You can start with a new design page of height 11in and width 8.5in. Then start putting your controls one by one checking your page width eachtime. This way you can make sure you have all the controls within your page size. Hope this helps!Dinesh Behera If this post answers your question, please mark it as an Answer.

Hi Josh2010, Based on your information, I think your issue is relevant to Pagination. To solve the issue, you could increase physical page size width following these steps: Select menu Report --> Report Properties --> Layout->Page Width But please make sure that the width of the report body, including margins, is not larger than the physical page size width. If you have any question, please feel free to ask. Regards, Challen Fu
