SSRS 2005 - blank page on export as pdf
How to avoid blank pages in SSRS when export a report as PDF. I am using SSRS 2005 where there is not property like in SSRS 2008 to supress blank space. Did anyone tell me Is there any patch updates released by mic to address this issue? or anyother alternate routes to achieve this is appriciatable. Thanks

I'd check the Report|Report Properties|Layout settings. Also make sure the objects width is not greater than the page width setting minus the left/right margin settings. Regards, Dave Patrick .... Microsoft Certified Professional Microsoft MVP [Windows]

hi mrk82, this is not possible in ssrs 2005, you need to upgrade to ssrs2008 Amit That's ridiculous. None of my SSRS 2005 reports behave like that. Regards, Dave Patrick .... Microsoft Certified Professional Microsoft MVP [Windows]

Hi Dave, Thanks for the reply. We have tried with the page settings too. but still this blank page is coming. The senario here is, As there is no possibilities of rendering dynamic columns in SSRS. we have used visibility property to show/hide the user's selected columns on SSRS. That is the reason it is showing space on right side of the report when lesser columns are selected. The same issue causes this blank page on PDF when exporting. Kindly advice us to overcome this issue. thanksRajesh

If you can't contain the page width setting minus the left/right margin settings then that's going to be a problem. Regards, Dave Patrick .... Microsoft Certified Professional Microsoft MVP [Windows]

Hi Dave Patrick, In BIDS, please take the following steps, and then check if it works for you: Click on Report > Report Properties > Layout tab Make a note of the values for Page width, Left margin, Right margin Close and go back to the design surface In the Properties window, select Body Click the + symbol to expand the Size node Make a note of the value for Width To render in PDF correctly Body Width + Left margin + Right margin must be less than or equal to Page width. When you see blank pages being rendered it is almost always because the body width plus margins is greater than the page width. Remember: (Body Width + Left margin + Right margin) <= (Page width) If you have anything unlear, please feel free to ask. Thanks, Eileen

Hi Dave, I have tried with making all columns width as "0". The report preview looks good. But, when I do export as PDF all colums are collapsed. I can't see any data on it. may be the reason I have set the width to "0" not sure. Is there any solutions/ patches to overcome this issue? thanks mrkRajesh
