SSRS - PowerPivot - data protection
We are creating reports & charts in Reporting Services based on live data in SQL Server 2008R2. We’d like for customers to be able to view these from their PowerPivot app and be able to slightly modify (sort, filter, rearrange) the data, but not copy or save it. Is there any function that will allow view-only permissions on a SQL/SSRS/PowerPivot level or at least delete the data upon their closing Excel? Tough nut to crack. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Hi Old97sFan, According to your description, you would like to grant user read-only permission in PowerPivot application, right? If I misunderstand, please let me know. If in that case, please refer to the following article, you can grant a user with a permission when you are a site administrator in SharePoint. Secure a PowerPivot Workbook on SharePoint: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff452082.aspx. Please understanding that we mainly discuss reporting services issue in this forum, you can post the thread to our SharePoint forum: SharePoint 2010 - General Questions and Answers: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepoint2010general/threads. There are many experts focus on it, hope you can get the issue resolved soon with helps from appropriate team. Thanks for your understanding. Thanks, Eileen
