SSIS packages and SQL Server 2000
I have an SSIS package that I created with SQL Server 2008 R2 that was installed on my test VM. Now I find out (new on this job) that the production server is running SQL Server 2000. Will I be able to deploy and run my SSIS pkg in SQL Server 2000 when it is time to go to production?

No, you will not be able to, you cannot go back in time; after all the SSIS is completely different from DTS 2000, there is some sort of misunderstanding here involved.Arthur My Blog

What if I were to install SSIS on the SQL 2000 box?

Hello, "You can install SQL Server 2008 Integration Services side-by-side with an existing instance of SQL Server 2005 Integration Services or of SQL Server 200" please have a look for details http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143731.aspx Thanks http://sqlage.blogspot.com/
