SSIS code contrlo for updations
Hi I am using SSIS 2008 BIDS to create and modify packages. when ever i want to move my packages from developer environment to staging or production. I am simply coping the whole project folder of my package to those machines, and I am using File system storage, After that when ever I want to change the package, i am just making changes in my developer environment and replacing this package project on Staging and production, May be up to now i didn't get any problems yet, but I know this is not right way of moving the packages from one environment to other environment, Because if i want to get some old version of package then I can't get it. what is the best way to move packages from one environment to other, and i need to get all my changed packages when ever i need to get. Thank you

As such SSIS does not have a version control like other codes available. What you could do is use Visual Source SAfe and backup the old project and use a new project each time. or just have backup of old projects before modifying the package.

Hi sudeep, Thank you, For your replay. It is fine to take back up of the project each time while moving new version. How can i check the differences between old and new packages while moving to Staging and production environment. IS Visual Source Safe is a software ? Where can I download trail version ? Thank you

Visual source safe is an MS product. As far as comparing the diffeence it will not be possible. This is possible for some code where we can compare the changes made. In case of SSIS you could compare the .dtsx file to see the difference in the XML file but that will not be really helpful for your cause.
