I have a package that imports data from Oracle server into SQL Server. I use XML config file for SSIS job schedule and it runs fine on the Test box now i deployed the package on Prod server as a file system and schedule it as a Job but when i run the job it continously running and never get finish the job or stop. I manually stop the package and cannot find any error and could not find any clue . If i run the package on prod through SSIS manually it works fine. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

WHat is the version of dtexec.exe you are using in production? 32/64 bit? Try the 32 bit version and check the problem persists.

I've similar experience with Oracle connectivity - what was happening was the Oracle Server stopped responding (it dropped the query) but the driver failed to notify SSIS of this - so SSIS hung waiting for the next batch of data which was never coming. Check your driver configuration, though it is odd you can run it manually in Prod but not on a schedule. Hi, Another reason could be related with breakpoints in the package or messageboxes within script component. Please also check (esp. your config file) about breakpoints and your ssis that you'vent forgotten any message boxes or dataviewers. Hello Khan, I would suggest you to once run a deployed package manually in the the scheduler. I would suspect a TimeOut Connection Account. Else Is your Oracle Database on a 64 Bit Server. As you are saying you are able to run the package through BIDS it shows that you are using a 32bit connection. One thing to remember is, BIDS run on 32 bit client when connecting to Oracle in Design Mode but when executed from SQL Agent or DTEXEC it would use 64 bit client to connect to 64 Bit Server where Oracle Database is. So, I doubt it be.. Post you Job Script so that we can see why/where the error is getting captured.. Thank You ChanduChandu

Do you have BLOB data coming in from the Oracle Source?
