SSIS Connection to DB2 Using SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition
I am working on a 64bit operating system (windows server 2008 R2) and trying to connect to DB2. We are having SQL 2008 Standard Edition so MS OLEDB Provider for DB2 is not an option. I did not have any drivers to connect to DB2 (OLEDB or .Net) so I downloaded the IBM DB2 Data Server Client assuming I would get all the drivers required but unfortunately not, all i was able to do is get the IBM DB2 ODBC Driver and establish an ODBC connection to my source by creating a DSN in ODBC data source administrator(under Administrative tools). The ODBC connection fails from within Business Intelligence Development Studio (2008). The providers i see for DB2 in BIDS are IBM DB2 OLE DB Provider which i cannot use because it fails with error "Dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed.(Exception from HRESULT:0x8007045A). Please suggest what options i have to connect to DB2 without getting into a mess like this.

I'm not a DB2 Guru so not sure if this helps. I've read a few threads on other sites (using Google) and the only thing I can suggest is to install the db2 run-time client - http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v8/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.db2.udb.doc/start/c0007221.htmJeff Wharton MSysDev (C.Sturt), MDbDsgnMgt (C.Sturt) MCT, MCPD, MCITP, MCDBA Blog: MrWharty.wordpress.com
