SSIS Connection Failure in SSMS
In SSMS when I connect to SSIS it seems to work. When I try to expand teh MSDB folder under Stored Packages, I get a login failed message with some verbiage about the instance either being non-existent or not available. There are two instances installed on this machine - a default instance and a named instance. The MsDtsSrvr.ini.xml config file has "." for the server. I have tried the server name and IP address in this config all to no avail. Any ideas why this is happening?

Do connecting to either of the Instance has the same issue? I understand that there is no problem in connecting to Instances. the MsDtsSrvr.ini.xml for default instance has "." for the server. What is the entry in MsDtsSrvr.ini.xml for named instance ?

SSIS is NOT instance specific. You only get one for the SQL Server installation.

Thanks for everybody's help. This problem was resolved through Microsoft technical support. While none of the answers here were the actual solution, they were insightful. The actual solution had to do with adjustments to the login in Active Directory. Thanks again.ewm2
