SSIS 2008 R2 and SAP
I need to put together a proposal to extract data from SAP R/3 to SQL Server 2008 R2. The SAP instance does not have any OpenHUB connector or SAP BW purchased/installed. I was intending on using SSIS to perform the extraction, and need to know what licensing costs will apply for this? My reading seems to indicate that 1 or all of the following purchases may be required: BizTalk Server SAP OpenHUB SAP BW IS this accurate? is it some all or none of the above? I can't seem to find any straight forward answers for 2008 R2, only really in relation to SQL 2005. Thanks, Ryan

Why don't you output the data as a flat file and pick it up by a SQL Server SSIS package? The file transfer can be done using FTP. In general, there are 6 ways on how to import/export data. IMHO, since SSIS is part of any SQL Server above Express this is the most cost effective solution.Arthur My Blog
