SRS Connectivity issues with Oracle on 64-bit windows
Hi, I have Windows Server 2008 R2(64-bit) running on my server with Sql Server 2008 R2. I have installed Visual Studio 2008 (32-bit) on the server. Which version of oracle client i should install to connect with Oracle 10g database? I just want to know how should i setup my system. Because i am facing following connectivity issues: 1-Business Intelligence Studio 2008 do not connects to Oracle (using oracle .net) because of path containing 'C:\Program Files(x86)'. I solved this prob. by copying VS 2008 to root of C drive :-) 2-When i deploy my report on Report Server, it throws exception of bad image. Kindly guide me to setup my environment. I am confused due to 64-bit system. Thanx in advance!

Hi Wahaj, If the SQL Server Reporting Services(SSRS) is a 64-bit version, please install the 64-bit Oracle client. However, since Business Intelligence Development Studio(BIDS) is a 32-bit application, in order to connect the Oracle from BIDS, we need to install the 32-bit Oracle client. I would suggest you install 32-bit Oracle client on a Dev server, which contains BIDS. And install the 64-bit Oracle client on the SSRS product server, which is a different server. Please design the report in the 32-bit environment, and then deploy the report to 64-bit SSRS server. If there is anything unclear, please feel free to ask. Thanks, Jin ChenJin Chen - MSFT
