SQL running on VMware
I've a customer who was told SQL Servers only run best without any problems in Hyper-V. If its running in VMware Vsphere 5 or esxi 4, it has issues such as inconsistencies ,delays etc. Is this true? Is SQL Microsoft not authenticated to run on other virtual environments? If my claim is wrong, you have any documents to support? nithya@cavucorp.com.sg

Hi, Please see below: http://www.windowsservercatalog.com/svvp.aspx http://www.vmware.com/company/news/releases/svvp.html VMWware needs careful set-up, but to say as a product it creates inconsistencies, etc. is incorrect. See below for further information on the virtualisation of SQL Server on VMWare: <cite>http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/sql_server_virt_bp.pdf</cite> http://www.brentozar.com/archive/2011/05/keys-deploying-sql-server-on-vmware/ http://blogs.msdn.com/b/cindygross/archive/2009/10/23/considerations-for-installing-sql-server-on-vmware.aspx Thanks, Andrew Bainbridge SQL Server DBA Please click "Propose As Answer" if a post solves your problem, or "Vote As Helpful" if a post has been useful to you
