SQL licensing requirement for SCOM
I woiuld like to know what is the SQL license requirement for SCOM, e.g. server license and CAL? I know there is version of SCOM that comes with SQL server. However I would like to install SQL onto its ownself as I am also planning to install
the SCCM database onto the same SQL server.
Thanks

SQL service itselft has two options for licensing: “Server+CALs”
or “Processor license”
System Center Operations Manager 2007 Licensing Brief
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=87480
the doc discusses possible deployment scenarion and required licensing for SCOM and SQL.
All scenarios suggest to use "Processor License" for SQL server.

Thanks for the info. I looked at the licensing brief.
We certain will not go with the Processor license type as it is too expensive. The doc. doesn't mention about what determine the no. of SQL CAL we need to purchase for use with SCOM.

Thanks, I did talk to the licensing sepcialist and found that individual CALs is required for each managed device on the network if we are going to implement a stand-alone SQL server.
Thanks
