SQL Server 2008 and SCE 2010
After much trouble installing SCE 2010 on a x32 server, I finally got it down. Basically it came down two servers. One of them has SQL Server 2008 x32 installed on it. The other I was going to use for the management server. On the SQL Server, I had all the SQL Services to run as a domain account called "SQL" That was working for every application that holds a database there perfectly fine, then when trying to install SCE 2010, the install hangs on that stupid "Waiting for SDK Service to start" Thats what it says in the log, and keeps repeating it until it gets to 800 some odd seconds. Finally after digging around I found a post that said SQL Services need to be ran under Local System. So I did that, and boom, it worked fine. However a problem remains, I need the SQL Services to remain under the domain account. After the install, I tried to change the SQL Services back, and then SCE 2010 fails with crazy errors in the logs saying it can't connect to the database, blah blah. Help? :(

Hi, Please ensure the account as enough privileges and try again by right clicking the setupSCE.exe and selecting Run as Administrator: Administration Accounts in System Center Essentials 2010 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb422929.aspx How to Install System Center Essentials 2010 Console on a Remote Computer http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb437322.aspx If the issue persists, please also try the following methods: 1. Adjust the Registry key ServicesPipeTimeout: A service does not start, and events 7000 and 7011 are logged in Windows Server 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922918 2. Apply the following hotfix: FIX: A .NET Framework 2.0 managed application that has an Authenticode signature takes longer than usual to start http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936707 3. Ensure the connection between the SCE server and SQL Server works and the firewall settings are proper: Firewall Exceptions for System Center Essentials 2010 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb437377.aspx Hope this helps.
