SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services
Hello,
I am getting the following when trying to view report using the web interface:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Cannot create a connection to data source 'AdventureWorks'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server.
The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Salim

Hi Salim71,
Thanks for your question and Rakesh’s reply.
This error is returned by the instance of the Database Engine that hosts the report server database. In most cases, this error occurs
because the SQL Server service is stopped. Or, if you are using SQL Server Express with Advanced Services or a named instance, this error will occur if the report server URL or connection string for the report server database is not correct.
To work through these issues, please refer to the resolution in this MSDN article:
Troubleshooting Server and Database Connection
Problems.
Thanks,
Sharp
