SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services - Can't Authenticate with local windows account
No matter What I do, I can't seem to authenticate to SSRS using a local windows account unless that account is a member of administrators. Is there some sort of special role that local users need to be a member of to authenticate properly? When I attempt to access reporting services, am prompted with a login window asking for login as password. If is use a local admin account it works fine, if I use a local user account, it prompts me again two times and then just shows a blank page. NOTES: I've tried adding the local non-admin user account to all of the SQLServer groups but no luck. I've tried deleting and creating a new local user account with the same group membership as above, but no luck. I have modified the rsreportserver.config to include single instances and permutations of RSWindowsNegotiate, RSWindowsKerberos, RSWindowsNTLM and RSWindowsBasic authentication types, but to no avail. (I restarted SSRS after each change) I am running MSSQL Server 2008 R2 reporting Services on a windows 2008 standard server. I tried solution suggestions 1 and 2 (3 didn't apply) from http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/d2f2676a-4720-4301-815f-29d81341a0c4/ but also no luck.

Hi andersr9, Could you please try the following steps: Open the Internet Explorer(IE) Click the menu "Tools" > "Internet Options" Go to "Security" tab. Select "Intranet sites" zone. Click "Sites", and add the Report Server site to the zone. Click "Custom Level", and check the item "Auto logon with current username and password" Click "OK" to apply. Additionally, please try using IP to access the site instead of server name, and check what happen. Thanks, Jin ChenJin Chen - MSFT

Hi, Were you able to resolve this issue? We are encountering the same problem. We are just calling the reports URL from a JSP page and we get the pop-up for the credentials as well. We have tried adding the server name and IP address in the intranet zone but still no luck. Thanks!

Same issue here. And on top it only happens if we log in to the server from the local Windows Server 2008 R2 computer. Not if we log in from other computers

Same here. Only a problem on the local Windows 2008 R2 box that we're running Reporting Services on. Did you ever find a solution? Thanks!

Had the same issue and this worked for me... Make sure you have the user or group configured in the Site Settings AND in the Home page folder settings. Log on as an administrator and browse to the Home page of the Report site: http://servername/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx Go to Site Settings->Security and add a New Role Assignment for the user or group. Go back to the Home page and click Folder Settings Add another New Role Assignment for the same user or group and assign appropriate roles. Patrick

So, I was having the same issue by name, but by IP Address I had no problem? Any ideas why that works?
