SQL 08 R2: Locked Out After Installing SQL 2008 Analysis Management Objects
Hello, I have somehow completely locked myself out of my SQL Server 2008 R2 instance and I need to fix this. Here’s what I was doing prior to locking myself out: I was following the TechNet instructions to setup Reporting Services for Project Server 2010 (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee662106.aspx). After installing the SQL Server 2008 Analysis Management Objects I go into the SharePoint Central Admin site and stop, and then restart the Project Application Service. The service wouldn’t start again, so I rebooted the server (SQL Server and SharePoint are installed on the same machine). After I rebooted, the SharePoint sites are sending the error that the service is unavailable and I can’t access SQL Server Management Studio: TITLE: Connect to Server ------------------------------ Cannot connect to <SERVER>. ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 2) For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=2&LinkId=20476 I was able to successfully access SQL before I broke something and do not know much about SQL other than setting it up for SharePoint. All help is very much appreciated! Bryan

Thanks for the link Eileen. As it turned out the service accounts were setup incorrectly and their passwords expired. It happened to pick this change up during the install of AMO!
