SQL2005 64bit install warning about ASP.Net Version Registration Requirement
I'm doing a SQL2005 64bit STD Edition install on Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 Edition. The System Configuration Check is giving the following warning:
- ASP.Net Version Registration Requirement (Warning)
Messages
ASP.Net Version Registration Requirement

Failed to find the ASP.Net Version Registration with Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).

IIS is not installed and I'm not going to install anything that needs IIS. Can I ignore this warning?

Thanks!

I am getting the same error, but I am installing SQL2005 32bit STD Edition install on Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 Edition. Has anyone faced similar problem. If SSRS is not planned to be installed, can we ignore this warning. I thougt that only IIS warning can be ignored, if SSRS is not being installaed. Is ASP.NET requirement related to SSRS component of SQL Server 2005?

Your help is appreciated.

I believe this warning can be ignored. I have seen this warning several times when I installed SQL. SQL runs fine though.

That is according to Reporting Services. In SQL Server 2005 it needs IIS to work. If you have IIS installed on your machine, make sure you go with the implementation rules: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934164

If you dont need the Reporting Services functionality, just ignore the warning, the option will be just grayed out or not offered for installation. Anything else should work like a charm.

Goto IIS Manager -> Application pool -> Advance Properties -> Enable 32 bit applications ="true" or "false" according to you requirement

So can you just set it to "true" on an x64 system and have support for both x32 and x64 apps?
