SP Workflow url

Hello,

I have a basic workflow that generates an email with a link to a list item.  The url works and brings up the correct item, but I'm unable to edit the item.  Do I need to append something to the end of the url or is it not possible to edit a list item from an email?

Thanks!

Hi.

In the URL, are your using display.aspx?ID=<ID>? If Yes, then you should also have the Edit Item link on the top if you have proper permissions. If not, then please tell us the format of the URL that you are sending in the email.

Yes, it's using dispform.aspx?id=[%CurrentItem:ID%]

I've tried using display.aspx and get a 404.

Thank you!

You are correct, it should be dispform.aspx. It was my mistake. In your list, right click the item and select, open in new tab. Are you seeing the Edit Item link here? If not then something incorrect with your permissions.

No, I'm not seeing the edit item.  I'm looking at permissions, but am a member of the Site Collection Administrators group.

Thx!

If you have used InfoPath, then the url should say displayifs.aspx?ID=[CurrentID]. Dispform is the out of box display form of SharePoint where displayifs is created when you edit the form with InfoPath. You can check the correct name of the form by opening your list in SharePoint designer and checking the Form section.
