Hi Toddg2, Please try the steps below to see if it will work: 1. Go to 12 hive to delete the upgrade.log file 2. Clear cache.ini file by following the steps in this article 3. Restart the timer job on the server 4. Run this command line: psconfig - cmd upgrade -inplace b2b force If this problem still failed, collect the upgrade log and the ULS log mentioning in upgrade log such as this one: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\LOGS\PSCDiagnostics_11_2_2009_14_14_7_187_938108432.log At the same time, check the event viewer to find the error message. Let me know the result if possible, thanks. Lu Zou TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

Hi Lu, thanks for your reply. I had to open a support ticket and work through this one. As a part of troubleshooting we diddelete the upgrade.log and cleared the cache.ini but ultiumatly we had to remove the SSP and recreate it again. Again, thanks for your reply !!

· Restarted and stopped the administration service, the timer service, IIS · Cleared the file system cache as described in KB939308 · Go to Central Admin | Services on Server | Windows SharePoint Services Help Search, reset the password for the user noted in the Service Account box and click ok. · Open services.msc and restart the Windows SharePoint Services Search service to ensure the password change replicated here. If the service fails to start, reset the password for it on the Log On tab of the service property sheet. · Run a command window as the user running the central admin application pool and run the following command from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\bin: Psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force –wait
