SPD 2010 and 2013 side by side install

My organization recently upgraded to SP2103 while my internal facility still uses SP 2010. I installed SPD 2013 side by side with the 2010 version still intact.

The issue is I can no longer open sites with 2010. The designer asks for credentials upon loading and only accepts my admin credentials. Once open, I get the same behavior when opening a 2010 site, but this time it won't accept any credentials. It also locks my account. *Note: I use smart card for authentication.

If I try SPD 2010 (single install) on a different system it works as expected without prompting for credentials.

Hi Ken,

Since SPD is a product of Office and it would install some components of Office when you install SPD. According to Office 2007, SPD 2010 and SPD 2013 in your machine, it seems that the issue is caused by conflict between different versions.

I suggest you uninstall Office 2007 and SPD 2010, and install Office 2013 if it is possible.

If you want to install both SPD 2010 and SPD 2013. I suggest you uninstall Office 2007 and install Office 2013.

Please make sure the versions of SPD 2010 and SPD 2013 are either 32-bit or 64-bit. If you receive a generic error message, you can try to clear the SPD cache folder.
