SMTP issues with MOSS 2007
Hello,
I have some issues with my MOSS 2007 SMTP services. In our SharePoint environment I have set up all the email configurations
in the central admin with the correct SMTP server and a valid email address but, whenever I add a user to a specific site, it takes very long time and the users doesn’t even get the email notification.
I am able to ping to the SMTP server by IP and FQDN and have tested to see if port 25 is open.
I’ve also used the IP on outgoing email setting within SharePoint but no success.
The firewall is turned off and don’t know what else to troubleshoot.
I have another SharePoint environment that is using the same SMTP server and don’t have any issues with that server sending
emails.

You can try sending an email using command prompt from the problematic server. See if the email goes through.Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
