I had around 6 secondary servers installed with SMS admin console and out of that 5 secondary servers have been successfully upgraded to SCCM SP1 (WHat I did is, I have un-installed the admin console from appwiz.cpl and restarted the server). However with one secondary server, am not able to get any success with above mentioned steps even if I removed SMS console from appwiz.cpl the SCCM upgrade pre-check detects SMS console installation in the server. How to remove SMS console files or registry entries from the server?? I know, if we didn't leave any trace of SMS admin console in the server the SCCM precheck won't detect it. I would use sysinternals' tool regmon.exe to monitor what the ConfigMgr setup is looking up in the registry.

Thanks John & Torsten .Yes, True. It is unsupported. However as I mentioned earlier I have already successfully upgraded 5 Secondary servers with ADMIN console. What I did is removed the console from APPWIZ.cpl and run the SCCM SP1 setup again.However with this particular server I had severe issue and I need to reinstall the entire site and moreover it is very dangorous to try more things with this secondary site as this may cause the communication failure for other secondary sites reporting to same primary.It may brake IIS on Primary Site server MPList returning error 500 on SMS Site.And as per MS, SCCM SP2 is having fix for this issue.Anoop C Nair
