Hi Andrew
I have seen this error before a few times and it is basicly a bug in SRS 2008 R2.
If you are running Reporting Services on SQL Server 2008 R2 update it with CU4, restart the SQL Server and possibly the Site Server as well and this error should be gone

The error 7402 can appear if you use a named instance for SRS because it is not supported and you need to use a default instance for SRS http://blogs.technet.com/configmgrteam/archive/2009/05/14/faq-sql-reporting-services-integration-with-system-center-configuration-manager-2007-r2.aspx.
In plus the CU4 for SQL 2008 R2 solves the error 7403 not 7402.

Hi,
Your SRS instance is it the default or a named one ? And yes is it possible to remove/reinstall SRS but I don't prefer that because who can tell that the pb will be solved after, troubleshooting the issue first is needed.Bechir Gharbi | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/bgharbi/ | Time zone : GMT+1

How do I tell if it is the default or a named instance? From what I can see in SQL Configuration Manager all my instances are called SCCMSQL so I think I am using the default.
TIA

From what I can see in SQL Configuration Manager all my instances are called
SCCMSQL
It is a named instance and in this case you have to install a default instance then install and configure SRS on the named instance as described in the link above.Bechir Gharbi | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/bgharbi/ | Time zone : GMT+1

Hi Bechir.
I have only one instance for RS on this machine and it is the only site machine.
Is it possibly to remove RS completely and reinstall?

Hi,
We have upgraded our Central and two Primary servers to SCCM R3 and we have reporting point configured in Central server.
Since we have upgraded the servers we are receiving this alert on the "SMS_SRS_REPORTING_POINT" as below.
"SMS SRS Reporting Point failed to monitor SRS Server on "
Please assist me on this.
