SMS SOFTWARE METERING PROCESSOR error msg at site status
I am constantly receiving SMS_SOFTWARE_METERING_PROCESSOR error on my primary site when i view the site status node, and the error keeps on growing.... But im not quite sure what is causing the problem. There is a quite number of error msg, but i will display only the common ones. Below is the error msg: 1) SMS Software Metering Processor moved file C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager\inboxes\swmproc.box\process\0wfon1o9.MUV to the corrupt directory. The file will be deleted when the minimum clean up age has been reached. See the previous and following error messages for more details. 2) SMS Software metering Processor failed to process the usage file 0wfon1o9.MUV for client ABYBSJUE11989PQUI because a record contained a bad usage start or end time value. Usage times are rejected if the start time is greater than the end time, the end time is in the future or more than 90 old days. Possible cause: the clock on the client machine is not accurate or recently has been changed. Solution: Reset the time on the client computer to the current time. Problem: The time on the site server is incorrect. Solution, reset the time on the SMS Site server to the current time. Anyone has encountered this before? What could be the issue? Has it got something to do with the software inventory client agent?

Have you checked the possible cause mentioned above ("Usage times are rejected if the start time is greater than the end time, the end time is in the future or more than 90 old days")? Just open the 0wfon1o9.MUV file in the Corrupt directory using notepad.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

software metering will have .MUV and .MUX file extensions. Could you please open one of these files and check from which machine this file .Then login and check if the date and time on the machine is correct.

Hello, This could also be due to the time zones/time and mainly if all the Site servers are having an issue like this. Also, trying UNCing into one of the machines using the Host name or the NetBIOS name. If you cannot, try by IP address. This will give you a good indication on whether it is indeed a time issue as Kerberos security will prevent you from UNC'ing into a workstation via NetBIOS name, but not by IP address. Let me know if this helps. Thanks Arvind

Torsten does not mark every single response he makes as a proposed answer, but you seem to do this. Can I ask you to tone this down, and allow others to determine if you've proposed an answer, and thus to click that button. If you feel you see someone contributing good guidance then by all means click the vote button on the right. If you feel someone has proposed an answer, click Propose an Answer. Usually the Original Poster will mark this as an answer if they feel it has answered their question. Doing this for them is a distraction. It isn't good form. Once in a while perhaps but not every single posting you make. I really appreciate your commitment and eagerness on here, a slight adjustment in how you use the forums is all that is needed. You're being very helpful, useful, and that is appreciated, but, I have to unmark a handful of your postings daily. Watch how others use the forums, emulate their behaviour, reduce my workload as a moderator which partly consists of managing your posts and unmarking them.

The file 0wfon1o9.MUV has been moved to the path C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager\inboxes\swmproc.box\corrupt. But when i open the file, the text is all jumbled up with letters and numbers... Should i delete all the file in the corrupt file? BTW, as far as i know, .muv file is an unknown or unassigned file extension correct? Is this a corrupt file? Following on from Torstens advice, check and confirm that the Client has its clock set correctly. This usually induces the above error. ArvindBS below mentions confirming via IP or NETBIOS name, this is a healthy test to follow and is leading you along a route that checks if Kerberos tickets are invalid, and thus, stopping you from communicating with the Client. This kind of thing usually happens when a time source on the network is not servicing some clients.
