SMS_SITE_SYSTEM_STATUS_SUMMARIZER error

Hi

I am getting the following error every 60 seconds:

Microsoft SQL Server reported SQL message 297, severity 16: [42000][297][Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The user does not have permission to perform this action.

Please refer to your SMS documentation, SQL documentation, or the Microsoft Knowledge Base for further troubleshooting information.

Last week the DBA changed the collation of the database as it was set incorrectly during SQL2008 install. I had wondered if this has had caused the issue but it does look like permisions related.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well the first smsdbmon.log file reached maximum size after the collation change. There were a few errors related to DB access:

*** [42000][4060][Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot open database "SMS_CUK" requested by the login. The login failed.

but I was not sure that these were caused by the database being offline at the time of the collation change. I then checked the current smsdbmon.log file and there are only entires relating to task maintanence and SND and RCV messages related to policies.

There was an error suggesting that an account was disabled but I checked that and it is enabled.

I will have a look at the links you entered on your post - many thanks.

I have also noticed that in sitestat.log I get the following error every 60 seconds:

*** [42000][297][Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The user does not have permission to perform this action.

---->: Could not execute the SQL command: DBCC SQLPERF(LOGSPACE). Will try again in 60 seconds.

This error does seem to point towards permissions but I can't seem to see what permisisons may be missing

Hi Jamesens,

As I know, SCCM can not migrate to a new SQL server with different DB collation, because a number of database objects are schema bound.

Make sure your SCCM DB collation is the same as SQL server temp db collation, it's important.

Have a look at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680951.aspx.

Hope this will help.

Thanks

I got my DBA to restore the DB from backup and performed a site reset - this fixed the 620 error

Thanks for your help.

Hi Quan

I have verify that the two collation are the same: SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS.

But I've found on two new DB, that are created after added Reporting Service Roles, a different collation:  Latin1_General_CI_AS_KS_WS.

I have this error every 1 minutes:

Microsoft SQL Server reported SQL message 297, severity 16: [42000][297][Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server]The user does not have permission to perform this action. Please refer to your Configuration Manager documentation, SQL Server documentation, or the Microsoft Knowledge Base for further troubleshooting information.

Thanks

I know this is an old issue. For the benefit of others facing this issue, i resolved it by granting rights to view SERVER STATE via

GRANT VIEW SERVER STATE TO [Proiver_server_name$]
