SMS_ENROLL_SERVER message ID 8300 - . . . the enrollment point is not responding to HTTP/HTTPS requests

On my newly installed SCCM 2012 server, I'm getting this error after having added an enrollment point:

Severity	Type	Site code	Date / Time	System	Component	Message ID	Description	Thread ID	Process ID
Error	Milestone	CHC	11/5/2012 8:04:37 AM	CHC-CM.davchc.com	SMS_ENROLL_SERVER	8300	Enrollment Point Control Manager detected that the Enrollment Point is not responding to HTTP/HTTPS requests. The http status code and text is 500, Internal Server Error. Possible cause: Internet Information Services (IIS) isn't configured to listen on the ports over which Enroll Service is configured to communicate. Solution: Verify that the designated Web Site is configured to use the same ports which ENROLLSRV is configured to use. Possible cause: The designated Web Site is disabled in IIS. Solution: Verify that the designated Web Site is enabled, and functioning properly. For more information, refer to Microsoft Knowledge Base. 6132	5928

I've probably done something wrong when configuring this, but I'm not sure what it would be.

I'm using an internal CA, and followed the technet documentation on creating all of the required certificates.  Any idea what I've done wrong?

This might be a stupid questions, but do you need a Enrollment Point at all? Is there a need to manage mobile devices at all? The Enrollment point is not needed for managing non-windows mobile clients.

Not a stupid question at all, I'm just using SCCM for the first time and trying to get it working, so I may very well be trying to do something I shouldn't.  I thought he enrollment point was required for using out of band management to control PC's using Intel AMT.  Did I misunderstand?

I wasn't sure when configuring the enrollment server if it needed it's own web site on the IIS server or not.  I put it on the existing 'default site', would that be an issue?

The default site is configured to use the "ConfigMgr Web Server Certificate".  Is the enrollment site perhaps supposed to use the amt provisioning certificate instead?  Although, I don't think the different certificate would cause the "500 Internal server error" that it's complaining about... I would expect to get something specific to a certificate mismatch or similar.

This is what I'm seeing for the last couple of hours in the enrollsrv.log file:

Have you managed to resolve this? I appear to be experiencing the same problem?

Thanks

November 8th, 2012 12:11pm

No.  I got a bit further, but not resolved.

I am using SCCM 2012 SP1 beta, on a Server 2012 vm.  It seems that there was some kind of issue with the .net version the IIS site was set up for vs what SCCM needs.  I removed the enrollment point, created a new IIS site and application pool configured for .net4, and reinstalled the enrollment point using that site/pool.  that seemed to get past the issue I listed above, but left me with still other issues.  I ended up giving up on the out of band management for now and removed the out of band and enrollment points.  I'll work with some of the other functions of SCCM, try to get them working well and learn more about them, and come back to AMT when the final version is out.

Have you checked the CA? Have you the right certicates on DP and IIS?

Have you activated HTTPS on DP and MP with Intra and Internet clients?

I've followed this links.

Years later, versions later, same error exists. Anybody managed to overcome it?

Reinstalled Enrollment Roles, still only getting:

component SMS_ENROLL_SERVER on computer sccmserver.local reported:  Enrollment Point Control Manager detected that the Enrollment Point is not responding to HTTP/HTTPS requests.
