SMS 2003 imaging system post conversion to SCCM2007 was still active?

Has anyone else seen this?

I've just discovered from one of the sites that I support that contrary to all the written guidance and advice we were given by Microsoft that images created in SMS 2003 can still be deployed to PC's using the SMS2003 image deployment CD after all the sites have been converted to SCCM2007 and the old OSD system been removed as part of the process. This only came to light when today we deleted the old entries for images that the new system had picked up after the upgrade. If we had known this we wouldn't havebeen rushing around to build new images, or have had a period when we thought and puiblicised that there were no valid images available.
