SMS2003 to SCCM 2007 SP2 - secondary site upgrade errors.
When trying to upgrade our secondary sites this is the errors that we are getting inside of our HMAN.log on the primary site: Start upgrading secondary site XXX SMS_HIERARCHY_MANAGER 8/5/2010 2:47:33 PM 12400 (0x3070) Cannot access setup prerequisite checking registry keys on server XXX. The operating system reported error 5: Access is denied. SMS_HIERARCHY_MANAGER 8/5/2010 2:47:33 PM 12400 (0x3070) Site XXX has not run the setup prerequisite checking without errors in the past seven days, it cannot be upgraded to SMS Version 4 SMS_HIERARCHY_MANAGER 8/5/2010 2:47:33 PM 12400 (0x3070) We do not believe this to be permissions related, we are logged into the Primary site server with an account that can get to the site XXX server remotely, manipulate files, registry etc.. As far as the prereq checker, when we run it from the primary server it fails on the Domain Membership check for all secondary sites. All of our secondary sites are in domains within the same forest as our primary site server. Our primary server is in domain1.forest.pvt and our secondary site in this case would be domain2.forest.pvt. This is issue one that we don't understand. Second - we CAN run the prereq checker directly on the secondary site - when we do that, it passes without any issues. Either way we can't get past the error listed above when we try to upgrade from the console. We CAN upgrade the secondary site by running the software directly on that server and running through the upgrade. That works fine. We would really like to do this via the console with the number of secondary sites that we have. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hi, To upgrade the secondaries you need to do the following from the parent site. Run the install splash.hta file. The splash screen pops up. Choose the 2nd option from the top "Run the prerequisite checker". Make sure the "Upgrade" radial button is selected. Check the "All Secondary Sites" box. Click OK. After the checks pass click OK. Then open up the SCCM console and do the usual right click upgrade secondaries. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
