SHAREPOINTLIST data source is not available
I have a report that uses a single connection to a sharepoint list with 2 datasets. When I publish it to the Sharepoint integrated report server, the connection is broken and when I try to configure the shared datasource to the rds I uploaded, it doesn't appear in the Data Source Link. Trying to create a custom data source shows "SHAREPOINTLIST" in the Data Source Type, and the embedded connection string also appears, but it is rejected with the error message: The data processing extension used for this data source is not available. It has either been uninstalled, or it is not configured correctly. The list is on another Sharepoint server that was set up before we set up the report server and is not joined to a farm that integrates both. Since we will be migrating to SP 2010 and joining the servers at the time of upgrade, we haven't attempted to join the servers to the farm. 1. What is the likely error and recommended resolution? 2. Is there a way to host the report in a windows form using a web service connection - most samples only show making a remote connection to a report hosted in a report server? Thank you. Dan Slaby

Hi Dan, Make sure the edition of your reporting services supports sharepointlist datasource, besides, RSReportServer.config file should contain the entry for SharePoint list, otherwise it will encounter such an error. SQL Server Reporting Services provides access to the full functionality of the report server through the Report Server Web service. The Report Server Web service is an XML Web service with a SOAP API. It uses SOAP over HTTP and acts as a communications interface between client programs and the report server.
