SCSM 2012 RC Limiting members of Global Operators Group

Greetings,

I have imported all AD users and groups using the AD connector. We have 20,000+ users and groups that are all currently part of the "Global Operators Group" by default. I would like to make only members of IT staff part of this group so assigning incidents to a specific user is a matter of sorting through about 30 users rather than waiting for the 20,000 others to load (which takes quite some time). I cannot figure out a good method of adding the "IT Staff" as well as excluding everyone else. -A fairly simplistic task that is posing quite a challenge for an SCSM noob... Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

In groups the "dynamic membership" can be used.

For instance all objects of class  "Active Directory Domain User and Groups" and the criteria "Object status does not equal Pending Delete" all AD users of SCSM which are not marked as Pending Delete are included automatically (all 20.000+ users and groups).

You can modify the criteria if you like.

One option could be to add "Helpdesk" as department at all AD users of your IT staff.  If you add the criteria "[User] department contains Helpdesk" as a criteria of the dynamic membership of the "Global Operators" group only the users with"Helpdesk" in the department field are included.

Hope this helps.

Okay, that does indeed work. Apparently I wasn't waiting long enough the first time I did this.

Thanks again Andreas!

Is there a way to limit users in the global operators group using LDAP filters?  Or how do I include only AD users that are members of a given group?
