SCOM server Migration
Hi All, We have two datacenter one is IDC and CDC . IDC SCOm server is monitoring 4000 servers and CDC scom server is monitoring 1000 servers Now we are in the process of migrating CDC servers to IDC. The idea is IDC SCOM server will moniotor all the servers. Please tell me what to do with exsisiting CDC SCOM servers( 1 RMS , 2 MS , 1 gateway server and 2 DB servers). We need these servers has to be monitored from IDC SCOM servers as simple agents.we don't need this server roles. Cany help me how to do this.

Hi, I would first just move all the agents over and include agents on the SQL boxes of CDC as well. As soon as you are ready moving everytyhing to the IDC environment you can decommision the Gateway/MS/RMS roles and they will be normal servers again (or be removed for a clean install and re-purposing).Bob Cornelissen - BICTT (My BICTT Blog)

Hi, Please see if the connected management groups scenario can fit your needs: Connected Management Groups Scenario http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb432147.aspx Based on my knowledge, to make IDC SCOM taking over the computers which were monitored by CDC SCOM, I think you need to clear the SCOM environment of CDC SCOM first and then manage the computers with IDC SCOM. In addition, I would like to share the following with you for your reference: Combining Management Goups http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/operationsmanagerdeployment/thread/37f9cd54-81da-4266-9479-b83615052676/ Merging two SCOM installs after an acquisition http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/operationsmanagergeneral/thread/16948290-90aa-4296-b15c-486fbf4d4a1a Hope this helps.
