SCOM monitoring for Biztalk services.
Hi All, I am trying to setup SCOM monitoring for Biztalk services running on windows servers, but don't have management pack for Biztalk in SCOM. My question is do we need Biztalk management pack for monitoring the services? Can't we use windows server 2003 management pack to monitor the services? We are using SCOM 2007 R2, I am not able to find Biztalk management for 2007 R2. There is a management pack for SCOM 2007, http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=389FCB89-F4CF-46D7-BC6E-57830D234F91&displaylang=en Please suggest. Thank you.

Hi The windows server 2003 management pack won't monitor BizTalk services - only core windows ones. You can use the windows services monitoring authoring template if you just want to monitor BizTalk services: http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/2009/11/13/241/ If you also want to monitor orchestrations, send \ receive ports and everything else BizTalk related then there is the latest MP here (you don't mention which version of BizTalk you are using): http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=0904FA8E-AC94-4882-89DA-964A23A799F0 Cheers Graham View OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/

Hi Graham, Thanks for the reply. We are using Biztalk 2006 and 2009 running on 2 different machines. Is there a management pack available for SCOM 2007 R2. Thank you.

Both management packs are available on the catalog (http://pinpoint.microsoft.com/systemcenter, search term "Biztalk Management Pack" - first hit is what you want ...) http://pinpoint.microsoft.com/en-US/applications/Microsoft-BizTalk-Server-Management-Pack-for-Operations-Manager-2007-12884901900 Microsoft Corporation
