SCOM choosing random IPs to display/manage
Hello, We are trying to use SCOM to monitor our network. One truly annoying and troublesome problem we are having is that SCOM is choosing to monitor different IP's than we tell it to on a given device. We have multiple networks in our lab across different VLANs. On several of our 'routing' devices (either routers, and/or layer 3 switches) when I tell SCOM to monitor an IP (for example 192.168.0.1) it will show a different IP instead (10.10.45.2 for an example). This can make it extremely hard to make sure your looking at the correct devices. I have tried setting a loopback IP address, with the SNMP source set for the loopback and it worked for a day, the next day SCOM went back to choosing whatever IP it wanted. About our discovery rule: it is Recursive (our environment is constantly in flux and we need to know what has been added/removed). We are discovering by host IP addresses (We can not get wildcard network ranges to work to discover everything as we want) We are not blocking specific IP/host names (I tried this and it didn't seam to help, it actually seamed to *hurt* the recursive discovery) Our discovery is set to run every night (again, our environment changes a lot) We are using both read only and read write SNMP keys We are Discovering all connected network devices How do I force SCOM to show the IP address I tell it to use???
