SCOM Alert View with all Alerts except Alerts containing textstring
I would like to create an Alert view, with all Alerts except Alerts with a specific Name.
For example I don't want to see the Alerts containg SMS.
I found this topic:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/operationsmanagerauthoring/thread/2adca001-59cd-44a5-b03b-0cbfb1c54f0c/
However then I need to define 1 Alert and I don't want to see ALL the alerts containing SMS, I can't get it to work with a wildcard.

This type of a MOD is not possible today in the console. What you can do is create a group of servers that contain all servers except your SMS servers - and then create an alert view that targets that group.Microsoft Corporation

Thank you for your quick reply,
The alerts I see are from the SMS Agent on the servers.
I created a view with the following settings:
Group Scope: Set to a group I created. Tasks: No tasks are approved. Views: Only Active Alerts view is enabled.
I always thought that if in the views the 'Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 was not selected, the user wouldn't see the alerts generated in that view?

it would only mean they dont see the specific sms views. But the alerts role up against the computer and those are visible in e.g. the all alerts view.Rob Korving

There is also more information on using wildcards when creating views towards the bottom of this blog by Jonathan Almquist:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/jonathanalmquist/archive/2010/10/13/regular-expression-syntax-in-scom-for-filtering-groups-monitor-elements-operational-views-notification-subscriptions-etc.aspx
It only seems to accept single character exclusions - so as Dan says, this isn't possible to solve your problem. As Rob says, excluding the SMS views doesn't really help either.

Sorry for the late response had a well deserved holiday :-)
Too bad that this isn''t possible.
How can you then easily create an "All Alerts" view but exclude alerts from 1 or 2 Management Packs ?
An example we have a team which monitors the whole server except SQL Server.
How can you easily create a view that shows all alerts for the server except those from the SQL Managemet Pack ?
