SCOM 2012 RTM: No Reset or recalculate possible
Hi
I'm running SCOM 2012 RTM on Win 2008 R2 SP1 and SQL 2008 R2 SP1 + newest CU.
Following problem: Everytime I click ANY Reset or Recalculate Health button, it seems that SCOM is doing nothing.
But I'm getting error messages like this in the view "Task Status":
Trigger the request to recalculate the state of all monitors for the selected objects on demand.
A module reported an error 0x80070490 from a callback which was running as part of rule "System.Health.TriggerState" running for instance "Terminal Server" with id:"{03508C11-B448-B306-1E91-9D92DD93C1AF}" in management group "XY".
Error Code: -2130771918 (Unknown error (0x80ff0032)).

Any ideas?
Thank you in advance

Hi
Recalculate will rarely do anything. It is mainly eye candy. Only specific monitors that have been written in a specific way (on-demand detection) can leverage this. Having said that, you shouldn't get an error and Reset Health does continue to work as per
SCOM 2007 R2.
The agents on which you are trying to reset health are up and running? And contactable?
HAve you changed the default SCOM admins group in any way? Is the SDK account a local admin \ SCOM admin?
Cheers
Graham

Hi,
I have the same issue following an upgrade from SCOM 2007 R2 (all platforms are 2008 R2 SP1). Marc are you running a fresh install or an upgrade?
A module reported an error 0x80070490 from a callback which was running as part of rule "System.Health.TriggerState" running for instance "MYSERVER.MYDOMAIN.COM" with id:"{C49D485E-0FF8-D709-B9E0-B38B16DECAAE}" in management group "MyManagementGroup".
Error Code: -2130771918 (Unknown error (0x80ff0032)).
In my environment:-
The agents is contactable and the HealthService is running
Ive made no changes to my SCOM admin group
The SDK account is running a Local System
I placed the affected agents into maintenance mode for 5 minutes the clear the failed state but get the same error if I try a reset state
Ill post back if I find a resolution.
Thanks,
John

Hi John
Would be interesting to hear from Marc to see if his was an upgrade or clean install. I haven't seen this issue before and as an early adopter, you are likely to find issues first and personally, unless someone has seen this specific issue and knows the
fix, I'd suggest opening up a PSS ticket and get it sorted in a supported and hopefully timely manner.
If you wish to investigate further via the forums then:
Is there any other information in the OperationsManager event log on the Management Servers?
Is there any error in the SQL error logs?
Good Luck

Hello. I'm the customer of Marc Bucher. The Installation is an Update from SCOM 2007 R2 to SCOM 2012 RTM.
The IDs you describe are different.
"Get-SCOMManagementGroup | select-object Id" returns bfb38795-3b2c-4736-824c-e5ee02b7d4e9
"Select * from MT_ManagementGroup" returns 0ae7f4ba-a78a-a81d-93ec-725947684d7d
"Select ManagementGroupId from __MOMManagementGroupInfo__" returns BFB38795-3B2C-4736-824C-E5EE02B7D4E9

I upgraded from Scom 2007 R2 to 2012 no issues, but I also have this problem with reset state failures every minute... I have done the fix on the SQL side and it was working nice for 2 or 3 days no more task "reset state" errors. Now all reset state
errors is back again , and I have reapplied the fix as per Bobgreen84 comments to noavail. I wish there was someone out there who has come up with another fix, Exchange SP1 MP also not released again thought that might fix this issue......Heinrich van den Heever MCSE Senior System Engineer
