SCOM 2012 Can Dashboard Display Views instead of Widgets?
Hello, I am just starting to work on configuring SCOM 2012 and have run into one main issue so far. We have a Plasma screen setup that we use to view various monitors so that we can easily see if something is broken that we need to be working on. For the SCOM part of the display, I had two things I was displaying with 2007 R2, what computers are unavailable and what websites are down. Eventually I would like to add more, but for now that gets me going. In 2007 I had done that by creating two different alert views that were customized with filters to only display what I wanted, then put them into one Dashboard that could be dispalyed. It wasn't perfect but it was good enough. In 2012, I can't figure out how to setup the same thing, I can add widgets, but I don't seem to have the same level of control over what filters I use, I can't create a filter for a specific name that lasts. I also can't figure out how to add an alert view to the Dashboard instead of just using a widget. I am hopeful that I'm missing something and there is a way to add the Views to a Dashboard, or perhaps there is a new better way to handle this. Thank you for any help you can provide. Eric

Hello Rohit, I have created a dashboard with two alert widgets, the issue I am having is that from what I can see the widgets are not as customizable as the Alert Views. In my two alert views that I would like to use instead of the widgets I have them filtered to only show events with a specific name. In the widgets I don't see a way to do that stays. I can temporarily filter using the filter that shows in the widget, but that goes away if you leave the dashboard and come back. If there was a way to keep that filter, or apply it in the settings so it would always be there that would work. Right now I think I'm missing something about how to either use the actual view, or get the widget closer to the view I need. If there is a better way for me to use the Widgets, or a different way to use the Alert I'd be happy to try them out. Thanks, Eric

To use alert views in an OpsMgr 2007 R2 style dashboard please review this: http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/cfuller/archive/2012/10/08/creating-opsmgr-2007-r2-style-dashboard-views-in-opsmgr-2012-scom-sysctr.aspxCameron
