SCOM 2007 agent discovery failure
Good afternoon everyone! I am having a problem installing an agent on an exchange server. This is the first time out of all my installs that an agent has failed. I have found the EVENTS in the application event log that tells the issue. But I dont understand what to fix. My environment is a SCOM 2007 environment. And the machine I am trying to install on is an exchange server and already has the MOM agent on them (I am migrating). I have done this repeatedly on other servers with MOM on them and had no issues. Hi Kevin, First of all, what Operating System is installed on that server? It looks like Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 libraries isn't installed there (or broken).. http://OpsMgr.ru/

Sorry Alexey, This server is a 2008 Enterprise server SP1. I looked in add/remove programs and I do not see Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 installed. Does SCOM require this? If it does I did not realize that. * EDIT: This is a 64bit server also* Kevin

I found another event before the sidebyside event: Log Name: Application Source: MsiInstaller Date: 1/26/2011 10:21:54 AM Event ID: 1031 Task Category: None Level: Information Keywords: Classic User: SYSTEM Computer: MAILEXCMBX01.paydayone.com Description: Product: System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 Agent. The assembly 'Microsoft.VC90.CRT,version="9.0.30729.1",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="amd64",type="win32"' for component '{9718BF1D-6A9F-3406-A992-630F7EF2F164}' is in use. You must restart to update the assembly. SOOOOO I guess that the server needs a restart...or is it referring to restarting a service????? Kevin
