SCOM 2007 R2 firewall configuration reporting services
I referenced this doc when setting up a test scom environment. My question is in regards to this line: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc540431.aspx Reporting server 5723, 5724 ---> root management server No Port 5724 must be open to install this component and can be closed after this component has been installed. After reporting services has been installed and functions as needed, I found that the ssrs is communicating with the rms via tcp/5724 and not tcp/5723 for normal operations. I did not watch the traffic during the install so I cant assume its backwards but Im wondering if anyone else sees similar behavior.

Hello jskiba. I was scrolling through the forum posts and found this one without a reply. The report server (and also the web console) request data from the SDK on the RMS. That is running on 5724. The 5723 is the port for the agent on that box to communicate with a management server. SO functionality = 5724 to rms for the SDK. And monitoring = 5723 to the management server(s). Hope it helps you.Bob Cornelissen - BICTT (My Blog about SCOM) - MVP 2012 and Microsoft Community Contributor 2011 Recipient
