SCOM 2007 R2 Text file monitoring
Hi this is my first post on SCOM forum,
I have a script wich write a log file in one of my monitored computers under c:\tmp\logfile_date.txt.
I follow this tutorial http://blogs.technet.com/b/operationsmgr/archive/2010/07/19/how-to-monitor-new-line-entries-in-a-log-or-text-file-using-opsmgr-2007.aspx to
monitor text files , but it doesn´t have efect, i dont have any alert when i modify the file on the monitored server.
My log file has only one field, it could be OK or KO.
In fill the forms of wizard with these:
Directory --> c:\tmp
Pattern --> log_*.*
--
At the next screen i fill :
Parameter name : Params/Param[1]
Operator : "Match
wildcard”
Value: "?"
After fill the wizard I mark rule as available to my machines group.
If tutorial is right , scom is going to generate an alert in when i do any modification of the file , well, i can´t
see any alert , even i wait for 2 hours for the refresh ...
Is there any way to debug this?
I need add to SCOM any management pack or extra feature?
I need do another thing?
Thanks in advance :)

Hi Anonymous1112345,
After reading your post, are you inserting the value with the expression “?” ?
If you are just take the "." and leave ? only. Also take a look if the rule that was created is enabled ( override ) for the target computer you want to monitor that specific log with value of True and saved to your custom management pack. This should
solve your issue.

Hi , yes I insert only value "?" without "" even i try multiple expresions including "contains" and "equal" expressions and it doesnt work.
The rule is enable even i enable it for all windows computers ... and the same it doesnt work.

Hi. Does this log file overwrite itself? SCOM will not alert until after it gets past the last line read. Anders has more information.
