SCOM 2007 R2 - Access SCOM from LINK on email
Good afternoon everyone! I have a quick question: What security level does one need to be at to be able to click the link in SCOM alerts at the bottom of the email? I am trying to be restrictive to the masses, so I am looking for minimal rights here. Kevin

You have to be at least a scom operator in order to access the web console (which is where that link will take you). So if the masses have no access to scom, but get notification, then don't worry about it.Regards, Blake Email: mengotto<at>hotmail.com Blog: http://discussitnow.wordpress.com/

Also, the channel you are using for notification has, by default, a web link to the alert. You could create a similar channel with no web link in it and use that for subscriptions to the people you dont want having access.Regards, Blake Email: mengotto<at>hotmail.com Blog: http://discussitnow.wordpress.com/

You can also just give Read-Only Operator rights - so users can view the alert information but not make any changes.

Hi, For details about the security settings for web console, please refer to the following document: Web Console Security in Operations Manager 2007 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb735415.aspx With either forms-based or Windows-based authentication, the credentials you provide must be a member of a user role in Operations Manager 2007. Regarding the roles, please also see: Role-based Security in Operations Manager 2007 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb735424.aspx Thanks. Nicholas Li TechNet Community Support
