SCOM 2007R2 cannot detect role DHCP (win2008r2)
Hello, could you help me with a problem I'm having in SCOM? Some servers are configured to ADs and DHCPs. Unfortunately, these servers cannot detect the SCOM ROLE DHCP enabled by that he does not perform the monitoring scopes. I have already checked the group members and it does not recognize DHCP (Menu Authoring> Groups> 2008 Filter by DHCP> NULL). Have reinstalled the agent on these servers. Since this date the DHCP MP and still nothing ... The server is monitored without problems until the instance of the same AD is recognized only to roll on these servers that the DHCP is not. Anybody have any idea what might be happening and how to solve? using scom 2007r2 and dhcps server in win2008r2 Thanks! Alfredo Antonacci Neto MCDST - MCSA - MCSE - MCTS - MCITP EA

The discovery: This class has a single discovery, which is based on a filtered registry discovery provider. It simply runs every 6 hours – looking for HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DHCPServer\Start value, and reads the Integer. If it is set to 2, or 3, your system gets discovered. This basically means ANY monitored DHCP server (REGARDLESS OF OS VERSION) will be discovered as an instance of this class, if it has a DHCP Server service in Automatic or Manual startup mode. Keep this in mind – because this means that this new MP will attempt to monitor ANY version of DHCP – not just 2008 R2 as the naming scheme might lead you to believe. This is by design. This is the first discovery and only discovery (assuming you run this mp, if you don't i believe dhcp 2008r2 is not discovered at all). more helpful info about this mp: http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2010/08/31/some-things-to-know-about-the-dhcp-mp-version-6-0-6709-0.aspxRob Korving http://jama00.wordpress.com/

Or on the RMS? (extending Kevin's point). This MP may require agent proxy to be enabled - and you can tell by looking in the Operations Manager log on the RMS and restarting the agent on the DC - the event that means the RMS is rejecting the discovery data shows up within a few minutes of agent restart.Microsoft Corporation

Thanks everyone for reply!! I find reason the problem and i fix it. The Object discovery DHCP 2008R2 default is disable. Windows Server DHCP Management Pack Discovery The Windows Server DHCP Management Pack for Operation Manager 2007 discovers the object types described in the following table. Not all of the objects are automatically discovered. Use overrides to discover those that are not discovered automatically. For information about discovering objects, see Object Discoveries in Operations Manager 2007 . Category Object Type Discovered Automatically Windows Server 2008 R2 DHCP Server role DHCP server service Yes Use the following procedure to enable automatic discovery. To use an override to change the setting for automatic discovery 1. In the Authoring pane, expand Management Pack Objects, and then click Object Discoveries. 2. On the Operations Manager toolbar, click Scope, and then filter the objects that appear in the details pane to include only DHCP objects. 3. In the Operations Manager toolbar, use the Scope button to filter the list of objects, and then click Microsoft.Windows.2008R2.DHCP.Server.Discovery.In the Authoring pane, expand Management Pack Objects, and then click Object Discoveries. 4. On the Operations Manager toolbar, click Overrides; click Override the Object Discovery, and then click For all objects of class: Windows Server. 5. In the Overrides Properties dialog box, click the Override box for the Enabled parameter. 6. Under Management Pack, click New to create an unsealed version of the Management Pack, and then click OK. After you change the override setting, the object type will be automatically discovered and will appear in the Monitoring pane. Thanks for all for help!!!!
