SCE 2010 install issue VMM server fails
I was able to install SCE 2010 successfully except the VMM Server component. It fails and the logs indicate two issues: 1. * Exception : => To use an SQL Server 2008 instance and database, the SQL Server 2008 Management Tools - Basic or Command Line Utilities must be installed on the Virtual Machine Manager server. To install the management tools, run SQL Server 2008 Setup, and, on the Feature Selection page, select Management Tools - Basic, and then complete the wizar 2. Information : System Center Virtual Machine Manager requires the Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) to be installed. To download the Windows Automated Installation Kit, go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=94BB6E34-D890-4932-81A5-5B50C657DE08 I have SQL 2008 sp2 installed on the server on the E: volume and have verified that the Management Tools are installed and also followed the instructions to install the sql server 2008 command line interface. Also I have installed the WAIK as referenced in the above link and that also keeps popping up as an information alert in the log. I've emailed the SCEVMMServer.log to the email address posted in the forum. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Jeff Miotke, MCITP:EA RightClick Networks, LLC

Thank you for the assistance. I followed the above advice in the posts you linked. None of them fixed the issue. I ended up wiping the server reinstalling windows, sql and then sce. This time the install went perfectly. I went through the exact same install steps as before. Ive chalked it up to one of those strange occurrences and moved on.Jeff Miotke, MCITP:EA RightClick Networks, LLC
