SCE 2007 - Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 Domains
Hi Guys, We building a new network and we are going to be using Windows Server 2008 R2 For our Domain Controllers. We currently use System Center EEssentials to Manage our clients, I was wondering if SCE Would work on a Windows 2008 R2 Network or weather or not I would have to buil SCE 2010 (Which I dont realy wont to do right now). I know SCE Will only run on a Windows 2003 Server, which I am happy to keep on the server (sorry we are having to keep on our network as some other Application don't support 2008 R2 :(.). If I can install it, on the New network then that would be good. If I can is there anything perticular that I need to do before installing? Many Thanks TParkTPark IT Technician

Hi, From the following articles, we can see it is not supported to install System Center Essentials 2007 Management server in Windows Server 2008 R2; if you want to manage the Windows Server 2008 R2 computer, it is supported: System Requirements and Supported Platforms http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff730576.aspx Support for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 in System Center Essentials 2007 SP1 http://blogs.technet.com/b/systemcenteressentials/archive/2009/11/06/support-for-windows-server-2008-r2-and-windows-7-in-system-center-essentials-2007-sp1.aspx In addition, I would like to suggest you refer to the following document: Supported Deployment Topologies http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff730447.aspx Hope this helps. Hi There, Ok then, so I asuming that it still woouldn't work with the following: Windows Server 2008 R2 ADDC Windows Server 2003 R2 with SCE Installed In simple terms install SCE on a Windows Server 2003 R2 machine and have it seperate from the DC and AD? I have also read the links that you provided and they helped a bit.TPark IT Technician
