SCE 2007: Group Exclusions not working
Have to create a computer group with all clients EXCEPT three specific systems, but it doesn't work. Have specified the following formula in dynamic members: "Object is Windows Client XP Operating System AND True". Have then added the three specified systems as "Windows computers" in Excluded members. The exluded members don't work. Have all Windows XP systems including the members that should be excluded in the member list. Any advice? Thank you in advance for any help Franz

Hi Franz, I think we can try to do this based on the system information in the Registry: Creating a Dynamic Group Based on Installed Software http://blogs.technet.com/b/systemcenteressentials/archive/2010/05/12/creating-a-dynamic-group-based-on-installed-software.aspx The system information is located in the following directory in the Registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion Hope this helps. Hi Nicholas Thank you for your help. Your proposal is interesting for SW distribution to dynamic groups based on installed SW. However, our requirement is to exlude specific machines from any SW distribution. Have now found a solution: Created a dynamic query with the following statement: ( Object is Windows Client XP Computer AND ( NetBIOS Domain Name Equals <NetBIOS Domain Name>) AND True ), and added the systems that have to be exluded to the excluded objects (searched for "Windows computer"). But I had to wait nearly an hour until the new dynamic group displayed the correct results. Franz
