SCCM to SCCM same site move
i all, we will perform a "movement" of 5 SCCM 2007 servers in 5 different sites (one primary and four secondary) to different hardware with different server name. preserving collections, packages, site code, etc.. and then delete the original servers. What would the procedure? Thanks in advance. Sergi Peligros.Peligros

Reinstalling (without the possibility to use ConfigMgr's restore mechanisms), because it's not supported to change the name of the server where ConfigMgr is installed on.

Torsten is right in the fact that you have to do a reinstall, but even if reinstalling you should not use the same site code as before. There are a couple of tools that can help you in this process. One is MS' own CopySCCMObj tool. To get it you have to contact MS. Another one is 1E's Migration Tool (available here: http://www.1e.com/downloads/freetools/index.aspx?flag=configmgr) These tools make it possible to keep your packages, advertisements, collections and som on.

hi all, I think I not explained well, i need to relocate the services, packages etc on another SCCM server/s. I think I found a post that looks like similar to my case: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/configmgrsetup/thread/3792616e-ee67-4221-b82a-07112a5c57cb I can do the same? thanks in advance again. No it will not work because you are changing the server name. http://www.enhansoft.com/

My first reply is still valid ... the scenario from the link does not work for you, because it results in having a new servername and sitecode. You want to keep the sitecode. And that's not possible while changing the servername, too.
