SCCM secondary site not communicating with primary site
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help with an unusual problem we're having with an SCCM secondary site. We first noticed the problem when an updated package failed to be distributed to the secondary site's distribution points. We have tested a couple of other packages with no luck. Restarting the SCCM services on the secondary site hasn't had an effect. In component status all components are green except for distribution manager (yellow) however the last started & last status message dates are over a month ago. There is no entries at all under site system status for that site. I've checked the secondary site server's computer account is in the site to site group on the primary site There is very little activity in the logs on the secondary server (since roughly the time of the last status recorded in component status). The only logs which have had any activity since restarting the services today are; compmon, cscnfsvc, sitecomp, smswriter, compsumm, despool, smsexec & ccm The compmon.log file has entries for each component like; Can not check availability for component SMS_REPLICATION_MANAGER since its execution state is unknown I can't find any references to the site in despool.log on the primary site, but I can see new files in inboxes\despoolr.box\receive on the secondary site. I can connect via UNC & telnet between the primary & secondary sites without issue. All of the SCCM servers are running SCCM 2007 R3 on Server 2008 R2 This secondry site server is also a domain controller & file server so would like to avoid rebooting it if at all possible. All of the other secondary sites are communicating properly. Anyone got any ideas on what to check next? Thanks, Zac

despool.log on the receiving site will contain errors if there's something wrong with the keys. Also check sender.log if the site is able to send data up the it's parent site.Abhishek Joshi | Blog :- www.Technotra.com www.MicrosoftTechEd.com

When you go to the Site Properties in the Advance TAB do you have check on the Require Secure key exchange between sites? PS do you see the secondary site in the console on your primary? Steps to check On the secondary site in the local admin see that the Primary Site Computer Account is added Configure local group membership on Primary for site to site communications (adding the secondary site computer account in there) Make sure that the key has been transferred for both sites if not you need to do that manually AMIM MUHAMMAD KHAN | CTTCNET USER GROUP LEAD | EVENT SPEAKER, MCT, MCTS, MCITP-ENTERPRISE, MCSA http://amimkhan.wordpress.com

Is the secondary site installed successfully? Also, check if there is the overlapping boundaries.Sabrina TechNet Community Support

Hi All, Thanks for everybody's advice, the issue seems to have resolved itself sometime after I'd restarted the services. The server wasn't shutdown or anything so I'm not sure why it started working again, but there you go. Will definitely keep everyone's suggestions in mind the next time a secondary site starts playing up. Thanks! Zac
