R3 requires SP2 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=3318741a-c038-4ab1-852a-e9c13f8a8140&displaylang=en) and KB977384 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/977384).Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jsandys/default.aspx | Twitter @JasonSandys

4.00.6221.1000 is a SP1 machine. You should upgrade this to Sp2. Once your machine is upgraded to Sp2 then you upgrade to R3 and deploy the R3 client hotfix and sp2 client supported Configurations:\ http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff977062.aspx http://www.sccm-tools.com http://sms-hints-tricks.blogspot.com

Many thanks, I have started downloading SP2 (1.2GB) from the link provided, strange that my SCCM configuration manager 2007 Site properties indicates: R2 installed yes, build number 6221. I will post the result of applying this SP2 & subsequent attempt to patch to R3.Jim White

R2 is something completely different from SP2. R2 requires SP1 and is essentially a feature pack add-on.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jsandys/default.aspx | Twitter @JasonSandys

Successfully downloaded SCCM SP2 upgrade, backed up the SCCM sytem & SQL database. Running the SP2 prerequisite sytem check I get a few warnings suggesting downloading and applying various patches eg: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942841/en-us however the following message from Micorosoft: The system is currently unavailable. Please try back later, or contact support if you want immediate assistance. Is this patch still available and applicable ?. Decided to run the upgrade have a 1.1 Gig database so it could take a while. Jim White

Unfortunately, the hotfix download system, for whatever reason, has been having issues lately. It's regional also. I'll pass on the fact that you are having issues. Try again later or in the morning.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jsandys/default.aspx | Twitter @JasonSandys
