SCCM on 32 or 64 bit OS ?
Technet states :ConfigurationManager is a 32-bit application, so performance will not be as great on a 64-bit hardware as a native 64-bit application would provide. To ensure best results, install the 32-bit version of the Operating System even when working with 64-bit capable hardware.Someone has reports/datasheets/evidences that confirm effectively that installing SCCM on 64 bit Operating Systemcauses a performance decrease of SCCM ?Thanks

Hi there,I can confirm SCCM works well on a 64 bit OS. I have 1 central server, a primary and 3 secondary servers all running on 64bit 2008 server. There is no noticable performance decrease I have experienced when comparing my production setup to a 32 bit lab.The only thing to watch out for is if you will monitor SCCM via SCOM.The 64 bit OS causes some perfmon issues. SCOM will have trouble picking up 32 SCCM performance monitors.Other than that I would say go for it. We used local WUS databases to support our SUP roles. With the servers having more than 4GB the local SQL install takes advantage of this even if SCCM doesnt. If you plan in locally locating your SCCM database this makes even more sense when teamed with a 64 bit SQL edition.

Just to reinforce Mooky, this is an oft asked question in this forum and the consensus always is that the small performance hit that ConfigMgr takes on a 64-bit system is always overshadowed by the other benefits of using a 64-bit system -- namely SQL performance, overall Windows performance, >4GB memory, standardization, andfuture trends. To few some of these threads, just do a search on this forum for 64-bit or 64bit.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys

I understand the next version of SCCM (vNext) is a64 bit application... so, in the future, if you plan to inplace upgrade, you should probably install on 64 bit now...
